Get up to the attic immediately and raid your toy boxes!

Those boxes upon boxes of colourful bricks that you haven't played with for 15 years could now be worth a fortune.

It's officially better to invest in Lego rather than gold or shares.

Even modern sets can sell for 36 per cent more

If you were lucky enough to buy The Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon for £342 in 2007, you'll be pleased to know it's now selling for nearly £3,000 on eBay!

The value of some kits has risen by 12 per cent on average for the past 15 years. Gold has merely gone up by 9.6 per cent.

But it's not just the golden oldies that are worth a few pounds – even sets released in the past year are fetching 36 per cent more than they were bought for.

Bev Channell, from BRICK2015 Lego exhibition, told the Daily Mail: "It's worth searching through your old sets to see what treasures are hiding there."
