An 80-year-old man had a barking mad idea to build a nine-seater train for his rescue dogs, so that's exactly what he did.

Eugene Bostick, from Fort Worth, USA, attached barrels to the back of his tractor and now takes his canine companions for a spin around his 11-acre grounds.

Eugene used barrels to build the compartments

When strays started turning up on his doorstep, Eugene had no choice but to take them in. Over the years he accumulated nine furry friends, not to the mention the 30 other animals he keeps on the property he shares with his wife and brother.

Eugene's brother Corky told The Fort Worth Star-Telegram: "Oh, they just love it. Every time he takes the covers off, they start jumping and barking, ready for the ride."

Although most of the pooch passengers are well behaved, there are a naughty few who have been known to jump out of their carriages. So Eugene now ties their leads to the barrels while the train is in motion.

He's even started a Go Fund Me page to help take care of his furry brood.
