But the 27-year-old claims her new pet needed so much exercise, she had to quit her job to be able to walk him an exhausting seven hours a day.

The two have walked for 18,000 hours, the equivalent of two years, and have covered an impressive 55,000 miles in that time.

Sara, from Essex, is now a full time dog walker.

She said: "When I got Bobby, I had a good job working in hotels and was on track to get promoted.

But I've had to take Bobby out for hours in the morning, come back at lunchtime, and spend my entire evenings walking him as well. That way I could give Bobby the exercise he needs. He's my baby really."

Bobby is now a finalist in Britain's Fittest Dog competition.
