John Whitbread had booked the holiday to Dominican Republic with fiancé Amy, but was left with a spare ticket when she cancelled the wedding.
Unable to get a refund, the chap decided to put the £1,950 holiday on eBay in a bid to find a female companion for the trip.
A lady called Kelly Wood eventually won the auction and today, John appeared on Good Morning Britain at Manchester airport, where he was waiting to meet her.
Speaking to presenters Ranvir Singh and Kate Garrraway, he explained he was feeling a little nervous: "I've got to admit, this weekend I started to question it, but it's going to be exciting.
"I've got all sorts going through my head. I don't know who I'm going with – am I an idiot? I just don't know, I can't explain what I'm feeling now."
Apart from seeing a snap of Kelly, John admitted that he didn't know much about his holiday partner: "I know what she looks like and her name, and that's as far as it is. I've not really been speaking to her much because I wanted to save everything for the plane."
Kelly was also interviewed before meeting John, where she explained the reason behind her brave decision: "It was just a bit impulsive. I've never done anything like this before so I thought, 'well, why not?' I'm single; I've got nothing to do. Let's just do it!"
She also quipped: "I've heard he's a bit of a snorer so there might be a few pillows flying across the room."
Upon meeting, the pair shared a hug before making their way to board the plane.
We hope they have a great time!
