Our hearts broke when we heard about pet dog Kai, who was abandoned at a train station last month. But we've got good news - he has a new home!

The adorable Shar-Pei crossbreed was discovered at Ayr station, in Scotland, at the beginning of the year.

Kai had been found tied next to a railing at the station, along with a suitcase that contained a pillow, cuddly toy and dog food - just like a real life Paddington!

His tale captured many hearts and people from all over the the world contacted SPCA to offer the ditched dog a home.

But the lucky man who has got to keep Kai is Ian Russell, 52, who was devastated when his pet Dalmatian, Mica, passed away just before Christmas.

When the hydraulic engineer heard about Kai, he immediately applied to adopt the pet but didn't think he'd stand a chance.

Ecstatic with his new furry friend, he said getting to keep him was a "bit like winning the lottery".

Aww! We love a happy ending!
