It's always a pain remembering to return books to the library, so much so, that it took a whopping 100 years for one to come back!

Ian Blenkinsopp was in his mum's attic when he came across Palgrave's Golden Treasury with Additional Poems. His Grandfather, Albert Chambers, had borrowed it from his school's library when he was just 14!

Ian, from Cumbria, sent the book back to King Edward VI school in Morpeth, Northumberland, and it arrived back 100 years exactly to the day that it was borrowed!

And although there was an eyewatering fine of £4,380 outstanding, head teacher Mark Simpson waived the fee – phew!

Mark was quoted in the Daily Mirror discussing the find, saying" "It's amazing to get the book back and it is still in good condition."

We bet Ian is just pleased he wasn't asked to shell out for the fine!
