As a result, we felt a bit queasy when we saw this "special" mince pie a school has made.
Instead of the usual dried fruit and spices wrapped in pastry, these festive treats are filled with buffalo worms and dried locusts. YUCK!
Harris Academy Greenwich and Graveney School in Tooting handed out the aptly named 'Mince Flies' to brave shoppers in London's Borough Market yesterday (26 November).
The experimental snacks were created as part of The Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineer Fair, which is trying to raise awareness of the food we consume and how it affects the environment.
We think we'll pass and leave snacking on grubs to Kendra Wilkinson, Jimmy Bullard and the rest of the brave celebs!
After all, they're being paid for it!
