Nobody wants to get on the plane at the end of a holiday, but for one couple this became a reality due to a crippling flying phobia.

Dog groomer Sam Disney and her boyfriend, scaffolder Chris Young, had been on holiday in Tunisia and had spent the week celebrating after getting engaged there.

However, when it came to getting on the coach that would take them back to the airport, terrified traveller Sam had a panic attack about flying home.

The 32-year-old had already been so scared she'd vomited while flying to Sousse, despite having medication, and she was so frightened she felt she couldn't catch another flight.

Unfortunately for the couple, they ended up staying in Tunisia a further three weeks, which set them back a whopping £5,000. This figure ended up being three times what the original holiday had cost.

Thankfully, after a visit from Sam's mother, she and Chris were able to calm the frightened flyer down and found another way home, via ferry to Marseilles in France and then by Eurostar back to their home in Ramsgate, Kent.

Sam was quoted in The Daily Mirror, saying: "It ruined what should have been an incredible holiday. We missed work for a month and drained our bank balances. It was awful."
