The anonymous owner had used the China bowl as somewhere for his pet to sleep - so we're thinking he must have got a real shock when it sold for 300 times more than anticipated!
The pricy piece was sold at an auction and had a guide price of £200 - £300.
But the cost quickly increased, thanks to online interest from English, American, and Chinese bidders.
Featuring a Ming-style blue and white pattern and five-toed dragon, the cracked antique was eventually snapped up for the eye-watering amount.
James Grinter, MD at Reeman Danise auction house, Essex, told The Sun: "We did not expect it to fetch that much – it really was surreal."
A Colchester resident had sold the bowl along with eight other items of Chinese pottery and made a grand total of £142,000.
Definitely enough to buy his moggy somewhere new to their head down!
