Well, not Mandy Ashford - even after three decades!
After the man of her dreams stood her up for their first date on holiday in East Yorkshire over thirty years ago, Mandy, 48, finally tied the knot with heart-breaker Barrie Moat, 50, in Rotherham, South Yorks, last week.
Mandy had first met Barrie on holiday in Bridlington when she was just 17, but when they'd arranged to meet up at Rotherham bus station on their return home, he didn't show up.
She hadn't taken his number or address so had no way to contact him. So as the years passed, she got married and had five children - but never forgot Barrie.
So when her marriage ended last year, she used Facebook to track down her first love - with raging success!
After messaging and texting, they eventually met up and after a year, they're finally married.
He accepted her as a friend, and they started texting and messaging- then eventually decided to meet, a year later they're married.
She said: "I always dreamt that one day I would see him again. I still have to pinch myself that we are finally a couple."
He said: "I have no idea why I didn't turn up for the date. We both knew we'd met the right person - I only wish I'd known that 30 years ago."
Talk about love against the odds!
