The dopey driver saw the word "fire" flash up on his dashboard and immediately thought his car was going up in flames.
It wasn't until he'd pulled onto the hard shoulder of the M25 that he realised it was just the name of the song playing on the stereo.
Rather than warning him that his car was ready to burst into Hollywood- style flames, the computer was just informing him that Adele's 'Set Fire To The Rain' was being broadcast.
This hard-to-believe explanation is only one of many reasons that drivers gave the Highway Agency for illegally stopping on the hard shoulder.
Others included picking flowers, selling a car, having a nap, testing phone signal and even taking photos of newborn as it was a "lovely day".
