But this is what one crafty crook did in an attempt to steal a whopping £3,000 worth of tobacco.
The unnamed thief forced open a skylight in Hollesley Bay open prison in Suffolk, to steal 300 packets of tobacco, which were meant to be for sale for the prison's inmates.
We know smokers will go a long way for their nicotine fix but come on?!
The theft, originally revealed by the Ipswich Star newspaper, happened between 16 and 17 June.
A Suffolk police spokesperson said that no arrests have yet been made in the category D prison burglary and officers were investigating.
