One woman has set out to take on the world's fast food giants with her own takeaway service!

Kara Dexter whips up her homemade meals every evening for families to grab on their way home from a busy day.

She makes all sorts of treats including chicken pie and pasta bakes, as well as Indian and Thai feasts when families fancy a change to the usual takeaway options.

The clever cook decided to start up the business – called Kara's Kitchen – for busy families that don't have the time to cook.

The 42-year-old gets as many as 20 orders a day, meaning she sometimes has to get up as early as 5.30am to prepare the suppers in time for collection during the afternoon school run.

Based in a Knutsford, Cheshire, Mrs Dexter uses local ingredients to create each culinary delight.

She charges £8 for one meal, £13 for a meal for two, £18 for four and £23 for six.

Speaking about her new business venture to the Daily Mail, she explained: "At first I thought it might be a service where busy people might be interested in having one night off a week. Then it just really took off."

But her own family, husband Mark, and children Katie, eight, and Harry, six, don't always get to sample the dinners.

She added: "The only downside is sometimes I've sold our own meals some nights so we've ended up with beans on toast."

Suddenly, our local curry house doesn't seem as good!
