Nickie Bose, 22, was gutted to lose her £2,000 sparkler in a pub – especially as it was one passed down to her from her mum, Tracey.
Determined Tracey, 48, visited every jewellers and pawn shop in their home town of Swindon to try to track down the precious ring, even dishing out photos in the hope that someone would recognise it.
And fortunately, that's exactly what happened. When a couple popped in to Hinds Jewellers, wanting to quickly sell a ring, the shop assistant instantly recognised the 14-carat marquise diamond and rang the police.
Tracey told The Sun: "I can't describe the feeling when we got it back."
The couple have been charged with theft by finding after discovering the ring and have said sorry to Nickie - who accepted the apology.
PC Paul Bezzant explained: "If you find something, you have to take reasonable action to try to return it to the owner."
