Shadow, a 16-month-old German shepherd, was abandoned by his owners in Spain and discovered with a crippled foot and bones sticking out of his leg.
Vets amputated the poor dog's left foreleg and were on the verge of putting him down, until Brit Sara May saw the Facebook appeal and adopted the mutt last September.
Sara brought Shadow to her Southampton home, where she started to raise the whopping £6,000 for his prosthetic paw. Hundreds of people donated and the final amount was raised when a kind retired man turned up on Sara's doorstep with a generous £2,000!
A US pets prosthetic company in Coloardo created the paw based on a mould put together by a Hampshire vet.
Shadow has to wear the leg for ten minutes a time, three or four times a day until he gets used to it and after three months, it will be sent back to the US where they'll make a better fitting leg.
Mum-of-two Sara said: "I cannot wait to take him to the park for a run."
Jane Oatley, the vet who crated Shadow's mould, said: "Without a front leg on a do, they really do struggle. It's given him a life really."
