Most of us have lost a purse or bag at some point in our lives, but sadly the chances of finding your misplaced possession is usually pretty slim.

However, for one lucky man this isn't quite the case, as he has recently been reunited with a wallet that he lost forty years ago!

Gavin Barr, 83, lost his wallet way back in 1974 when he was working in an office block in Ashford, Kent. This building is now being turned into flats and one day during the process of the construction, a worker stumbled across the missing wallet.

Found in a ceiling within the building, the wallet still contained Gavin's driving license, two photographs, some bank cards and a Zambia residence permit.

The construction company used a historian to track down Gavin, who lives in Charring, Kent. The retired personnel officer was quoted in the Daily Mirror saying "A big thank you" to the kind firm.

This has given us hope for our own missing purse!
