But Luke Harding took it one step further on a recent night out in Oldham, waking up in Paris! He even tweeted a picture the morning after of himself next to the Eiffel Tower with the caption: "Sat outside the Arc De Triumph eating a croissant."
The 19-year-old had enjoyed a night out with mates in Oldham's Tokyo nightclub until around 4am. But despite his friends heading home, the sheet metal worker decided he wasn't quite ready for his evening to finish.
Instead, Luke booked a £100 flight to the French capital on his phone, and with his passport already with him as ID, he jumped in a taxi to Manchester airport.
Hours later, he eventually woke up at Charles De Gaulle Airport in a toilet cubicle. Perhaps suggesting how drunk he had been, he then tweeted: "Don't remember the flight. It's f***ing expensive here."
The costs didn't end there, as he then had to pay a further £170 for a flight home and arrived home 12 hours later.
But the Oldham lad doesn't regret his spontaneous trip, saying: "It cost an arm and a leg but I don't regret it. It's a funny story to tell my mates for years to come."
It might make a funny story but we think we'll be sticking to a kebab and cab home after a night out.
