So when it comes to deciding the perfect outfit for a job interview, wedding reception or just a date with your man, we have to bear in mind that we might not be able to afford that gorge dress in our favourite shop window.
However, one in six trend-loving women have confessed to buying expensive clothes with one intention: to wear their outfit once and then take it back for a refund. This penny pinching scam is known as 'wardrobing' and as many as one in eight say they would do this if it meant they could wear the latest fashion trends for that one special occasion.
Even more worryingly, the same number of trend-searching fashionistas claim that it doesn't matter what the price of an outfit is; they are dressing to impress knowing they can get a refund at the end of it.
Anita Naik, consumer editor at VoucherCodes.co.uk, who carried out the research, told the Daily Mail:
"Our research reveals that over a quarter of women who admit to 'wardrobing' feel guilty about it, but the pressure to look good makes it feel like the only option for some to look good on a budget."
Just remember ladies; there are some great on-trend outfits out there that are fun and fabulous - without the expensive price tag!
