Finding love was the last thing on Lynsey Austin's mind while undergoing gruelling treatment for leukaemia.

But when paramedic Glenn Harker arrived to take her to hospital, Lynsey knew she'd met someone special.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, the 36-year-old said: "I was going for a bone marrow biopsy and he made me laugh all the way."

"They say you find love in the strangest places."

Mum-of-one Lynsey discovered she had cancer of the blood and bone marrow in 2008.

She met Glenn in 2009 during her two-year battle with the illness.

After driving her four or five times, divorced Glenn, 42, plucked up the courage to add her as a friend on Facebook – sparking a romance that will soon result in marriage.

School dinner lady Lynsey said: "We'd share problems and have a natter. He made me feel at ease."

Seven months after they met, Glenn moved in with Lynsey and son Ethan, 13, at their home in Middlesbrough.

She described fiancé Glenn, who proposed last year, as her "rock."

Lynsey, who suffered two heart attacks during her illness, is now in remission and was discharged from hospital three months ago.
