Mum banned from giving birth for 13 years

A mum who was found guilty of leaving her four children in a hotel room while she went out partying has been banned from giving birth for 13 years.

Kimberly Lightsey, 30, had told the court in Bartow, Florida, that she wanted more children but she opted not to get pregnant again before 2025 when she was faced with five years in prison.

She left her children – aged between one and 11 – in a hotel and the police were called when a guest heard crying from one of the rooms.

One of the children had epilepsy and cerebral palsy and needed constant care.

Lightsey, who had been serving four years probation for child abuse, was arrested when she returned to the hotel in Winter Haven, Florida.

The children are now in the care of relatives.
