They suffer the effects all day – usually on a Sunday – once a week between the ages of 21 and 38. During those ages, they also spend another 12 days a year feeling rubbish because of office parties, weddings and birthdays.

So it's no wonder people have come up with their own way of feeling better the morning after the night before:
Japan
They eat plums pickled in vinegar, either whole or in tea to dilute the salty flavours.
Romania
They prefer tripe soup, where the offal is boiled with salt and a greasy broth, accompanied with cream, garlic and onions.
Poland
Sour pickle juice is used by the Poles, as they believe that the high levels of electrolytes help repair liver damage.
Ancient Rome
The Ancient Romans deep fried canaries with hot oil, salt and pepper, believing this would relieve headaches.
Germany
They eat 'KaterFruhstuck', or 'hangover breakfast', which is picked herring wrapped around onion and sliced gherkin.
Britain
We prefer to go for more traditional methods – water or painkillers like Nuromol. A quick poll around the Reveal office shows we use everything from Diet Coke to Wotsits.
And if all else fails, the best thing to do is just to roll over and sleep it off!
