Valentine Warner's easy recipe for delicious Turbo Cheese on Toast

Cheese on toast is fun but, for only as long as its hot. Follow this fab recipe from TV chef Valentine Warner and even when cooled, the cheese will never become hard!

  • 100g Butlers Traditional Nutty Farmhouse Red Leicester
  • 1 ½ good tsp whole grain Mustard
  • 1 good splash of Worcester sauce
  • 2 generous tbsp of Mayonnaise
  • A heavy bombardment of black pepper
  • 2 large slices of tiger or bloomer bread
  • 4 tinned anchovies from oil, optional
  • A few wafer thin slices of red onion, optional


1. Preheat the grill to full blast

2. Mix together the cheese, mustard, Worcester sauce, mayonnaise and pepper

3. Toast the 2 slices of bread

4. Load the cheese mix onto the toast taking it right to the edges so that every mouthful will be fun

5. Lay 2 anchovies on top of each toast (if using)

6. Grill until the cheese it hot, browned and bubbling

7. Lay over a few slices of red onion (if using)

8. Don’t burn your mouth in eagerness
