It's 1961 as Call The Midwife returns and with the winds of social change upon them, the nuns and nurses of Nonnatus house must carry on with business as usual.

Easter is approaching and things are as busy as ever with babies due all the time. Patsy helps experienced mother Rhoda Mullucks give birth to a baby with severe deformities. As the Rhoda refuses to reject her child, the father struggles to come to terms with the hard realities of his daughter's problems.

Meanwhile, a new exercise craze has arrived and Trixie, looking for something to focus her energies on, starts teaching a keep fit class. But when there's a medical emergency among the group she starts to realise the classes are far more important than just fun and that she can help these ladies understand their own bodies better. But will it help her too?
