The Wanted singer Jay and his professional partner Aliona won the public vote to be crowned the winners, beating contestants Kellie Bright and Georgia May Foote in Saturday's final (19 December).
Struggling to contain his emotion, Jay fought back tears as he told Aliona: "You deserve it so much."
He added: "It's been one of the most special things I've ever done, with the most special person. Anyone who watched us and helped us get here... Thank you."
While Jay admitted he was "on cloud nine" and feeling "spaced out", his celebrity fans were quick to share their congratulations on social media.
Fellow SCD star Anton Du Beke tweeted: "Congratulations to @AlionaVilani and @JayMcGuiness Worthy winners. Had a fabulous night with @thekatiederham Thank you all for voting XX."
While Jay's bandmate Nathan Sykes wrote: "He's bloody done it!!! I'm crying ... Again. Couldn't be more proud!! @JayMcGuiness #JayHasTheGlitterball."
The couple performed the quickstep to The Who's 'My Generation' and a 'Best of Jay' mix to The Weeknd's 'Can't Feel My Face' for their showdance.
Their final routine was a Paso Doble to Bon Jovi's 'It's My Life'.
Although they won, Jay and Aliona were in fact placed at the bottom of the leader board by the judges at the end of the three performances - causing some fans to claim the show is a fix.
Aliona is the only pro to have won the show twice after taking Harry Judd to glory in 2011.
Meanwhile, Ola Jordan returned to say goodbye after 10 years on the show, Mary Berry made a guest appearance and Ellie Goulding performed her track 'Love Me Like You Do'.
