Viewers watched Lola's exit on Tuesday night's episode (28 July) as she decided to leave Walford with her daughter Lexi after her granddad Billy Mitchell grassed on Lola's boyfriend Jay Brown to the police.
Deciding to start a new life away from Albert Square, Lola left in a rush, but not before an emotional goodbye with Billy at Walford East train station.
After the episode aired, Danielle tweeted: "I've had the most amazing time playing Lola. Thank you so much for your lovely messages."
Lola was a popular character on EastEnders, so it came as a surprise to many fans last month when it announced that Danielle had been written out of the soap.
Executive Producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said at the time: "We all love Danielle and she and Lola have been a big part of EastEnders over the past four years. Danielle is a fantastic actress and I genuinely look forward to seeing her shine in future roles away from the Square."
Danielle joined the show as Lola in 2011. Her storylines included becoming pregnant at the age of 16 by Ben Mitchell, a live birth scene, and her custody battle for daughter Lexi.
Before joining EastEnders, Danielle appeared in TV series, Jamie's Dream School. In the show, chef Jamie Olivier attempted to persuade 20 young people to give education a second chance.
