Kathy, played by Gillian Taylforth, will make her return to Walford this autumn after filming new scenes for her highly-anticipated soap return.
Kathy made a fleeting appearance during a live scene for EastEnders' 30th anniversary in February, in what has been the biggest soap shocker so far this year.
Despite soapland thinking she had died from a car accident in 2006, it turned out Kathy had been alive all this time. Viewers were also treated to a short glimpse of Kathy in May as she and Phil met up in a cafe outside of Walford.
Phil had handed ex-wife Kathy an envelope full of cash, but he said he could no longer help her out.
During the scene, Phil also asked whether Kathy's estranged husband Gavin suspected anything, to which she replied: "Do you think I'd still be standing if he did?"
Gavin will be played by star of stage and screen Paul Nicholas, EastEnders' executive editor Dominic Treadwell-Collins recently said: "Gavin is going to be an EastEnders villain like no other. He's going to be modern and complex - and have a foot in the past and a foot in the present."
Soap bosses are not giving anything away about Kathy's return but it has previously been described as "earth-shattering".
Gillian and Paul were recently seen filming on a runway alongside Steve McFadden, who plays Phil. These scenes will air in September.
