In spite of the odd rain shower, the celebs were out in full force to make sure that Wireless Festival got the birthday party of ALL birthday parties, and took to the stage to treat the crowds to a number of stellar performances in anticipation for next weekend's shenanigans. Here's a roundup of the best bits!
1. Drake headlines!
Drake flew all the way from hometown Toronto, Canada to make his Wireless set after having to cancel last year's show due to illness - but he sure didn't disappoint this time.
Drawing crowds of thousands, the rapper performed hits like Headlines and Over, as well as medleys of Take Care which he recorded with Rihanna and My Way which saw him team up with fellow rapper Fetty Wap.
The superstar revealed his love for London and even branded the city his "second home" after trying (and failing rather hilariously!) to emulate a cockney accent!
Drake's set consisted of trees - yep, actual trees - and saw him emerge from a huge puff of smoke. He was illuminated by thousands of tiny LED lights (nowhere near as bright as Kanye West's set last year) but his performance did end with a bang!
Quite literally, actually as he treated the audience to an amazing spectacle of fireworks that closed the show perfectly.
2. Rita Ora leaves VERY little to the imagination!
She's famed for her barely-there outfits but Rita Ora outdid herself as she took to the stage in a leather bra and skimpy fringed knickers for her afternoon performance!
The singer treated fans to her biggest tunes including How We Do, I Will Never Let You Down and R.I.P which headline act Drake wrote for her. The blonde bombshell took time our of her performance to pay homage to the rapper for propelling her to stardom and for helping her out early on in her performing career - awhh!
Rita showcased a number of brand spanking new tracks including the ultimate summer tune, Poison, out now. She thanked her hometown, London, for the warm welcome after it emerged that Wireless is the only UK festival that the busy bee will be playing this year.
After she gyrated upon the speakers and whipped her locks around a la Willow Smith, Rita was joined by British hip-hop duo Krept and Konan who rivalled her when it came to the raunchy dance moves! The puffs of fire and flying sparks made Rita's set even hotter and she disappeared backstage in a cloud of smoke. Magical...
3) Katy B welcomes a special guest...
London born Katy B lit up the stage in this vibrant getup as she sang note perfect renditions of her world-famous tunes including Katy On A Mission, Broken Record and Lights On featuring the one and only Ms. Dynamite.
The unfailing energy gave life to the audience who were basking in the sun and we totally fell in love with her Little Mermaid-esque red tresses.
During her performance, Katy was joined by Fester Skank artist Lethal Bizzle, whose appearance on stage very nearly caused a stampede from fans who were queueing for a bite to eat!
The star stayed for one song and let Katy finish her set which saw her pull an array of seriously impressive dance moves out of her hat. Yes, Katy!
4. Other AH-MAZING acts.
American singer Jhene Aiko, Chance The Rapper, Big Sean AND Boy Better Know to name but a few, absolutely rocked the second stage at the pre-festival bash drawing nearly as many fans as headliner Drake! We found ourselves sprinting from stage to stage to catch a glimpse of everyone and to make the most of the fantastic talent. Can we do it all over again?!
5. Which celebs did we spot in the VIP area?
TOWIE regular Vas J. Morgan was mingling amongst the crowds in anticipation for BFF Rita Ora's performance and he stopped for a number of selfies with fans before disappearing into the wings.
We spotted Little Mix's super-stylish Leigh-Anne Pinnock who was rocking a full head of sassy urban braids and a punchy red lip. The star also took time out of watching Rita perform to pose for pics with a whole hoard of adoring fans. Bless!
X Factor star Tamera Foster was seen fangirling over Drake! She was wearing a black cap and sunnies (and rocked the longest pair of lilac stiletto nails - totally fierce!) but there was no hiding from the celeb obsessives, AKA, us.
Wireless Festival officially kicks off next weekend and will bring the likes of Duke Dumont, Labrinth and Nicki Minaj to London's Finsbury Park.
