We would never imagine a split in sight for these two, but The Simpsons' executive producer Al Jean revealed to Variety that their marriage will be on the rocks in the 27th season.
Homer will be led astray by a character voiced by Girls star, Lena Dunham.
Al said: "In the premiere, it's discovered after all the years, Homer has narcolepsy and it's an incredible strain on the marriage. Homer and Marge legally separate, and Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who's voiced by Lena Dunham."
It hasn't been made clear if their separation will be limited to just one episode, or if it will be a longer period of time, but fans haven't reacted too well to the news...
One fan tweeted: "No jokes here. I am truly heartbroken and crying at the thought of Homer and Marge not being together."
Another wrote: "TELL ME THAT MARGE AND HOMER SEPARATING IS A JOKE."
And, proving just how popular the TV couple are, one man tweeted: "I asked Gillian who her favourite celebrity couple was and she said 'Marge and Homer Simpson'."
Loyal fans of the show have also noted that in a 1996 episode titled, 'A Millhouse Divided', Marge and Homer actually divorced.
However, it was a brief separation, as Homer only filed for divorce because he realised he was not the perfect husband, saying Marge deserved a fresh start with a second wedding.
Season 27 of The Simpsons starts in September on Fox in the US. It airs in the UK on Sky1.
