In February, Albert Square favourite Kathy made a shock return from the dead during EastEnders' live 30th anniversary episode. And just a few weeks ago, executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins said fans can expect to see another glimpse of Kathy "fairly soon".
Now Adam, who plays Kathy's son Ian Beale in the BBC Soap, is looking forward to being reunited with his on-screen mum.
Speaking to Radio Times, about whether he has filmed a reunion scene, Adam said: "No, that's still to come. I don't even know when that's going to be. I have no idea 'how', I have no idea 'when'. I just can't wait."
Adam found out that Kathy would be back from the dead last December, at the same time he was told young Bobby would be Lucy Beale's murderer. It turns out Adam knew about Kathy's return before Gillian did!
"The biggest problem I had was that I'd kept in touch with Gillian the whole time she'd been away," revealed Adam. "And all of a sudden, when she was texting me over Christmas, I couldn't reply. Because I knew about Kathy and she didn't. Gilly was still in the dark.
"Dom was so desperate to keep it secret that he didn't even ask Gilly until the middle of January. Secrecy was just so important. When we were finally able to speak to each other about it, we both just ended up screaming with joy down the phone line."
Dominic has previously described the storyline behind Kathy's return from the dead as "earth-shattering".
Gillian was last seen in Hollyoaks as Sandy Roscoe, and she also starred on the 11th series of Celebrity Big Brother in 2013.
Speaking in February, Gillian said it was "absolutely wonderful to be returning to the show" as Kathy. She added: "When executive producer Dominic approached me with his plan, I was so shocked I got into my car and burst into tears!"
Adam is currently gearing up for British Soap Awards, where he has been shortlisted for Best Actor alongside co-star Danny Dyer.
