EastEnders star James Forde to leave Liam Butcher role

EastEnders star James Forde is leaving the soap after seven years.

James, who plays schoolboy Liam Butcher in the BBC One soap, confirmed the news last night (27 April) via Twitter.

James tweeted: "Yes I can confirm I am leaving EastEnders, it has been an amazing 7-8 years and I've loved every minute of it!"

"Thank you all for the amazing support and messages I can't thank you all enough."

A spokesperson also said in a statement: "We can confirm that James Forde will be leaving EastEnders later this year. We wish him all the best for the future."

No details have been released about his exit storyline.

James has played the role of Bianca Jackson and Ricky Butcher's son since 2008, and one his most prominent storylines was in 2013 when Liam joined a gang.

More recently, viewers have seen romance develop between Liam and young mum Cindy Williams.
