Denise Van Outen has spoken out after bagging herself a part in long-running soap EastEnders.

Although she is keeping tight-lipped about what role she is set to play, the blonde actress is thrilled with her new job, which was confirmed last month.

Speaking about her forthcoming stint in the show, Denise has said that starring in EastEnders has been on her agenda for years.

"I'd been asked before to go on but the timing was never right – I was pregnant or there was another reason," Denise told the Daily Express.

"But it is the 30th year which for me was a no brainer.

"If I am ever going to do it, it has got to be now - I've grown up with the show."

Will she be a goodie or a baddie? Only time will tell!

Denise, 40, began her career as a child model before attending the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School. She soon developed a love for acting and later appeared in shows such as The Bill.

The star became a household name in the 90s when she landed a high profile presenting role on The Big Breakfast, and she has since starred in many West End shows, including Legally Blonde and Chicago.

Denise also provides the voice over to TOWIE and was previously married to West End star Lee Mead. They have one child together, daughter Betsie.

Look forward to seeing you in Walford soon, Den!
