David Tennant and Olivia Colman will reprise their roles as Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller for the third series.
Creator and writer Chris Chibnall said: "We've been overwhelmed that nine million people every week have continued to join us on the twists and turns of Broadchurch."
He added: "This third chapter has been a glint in my eye for a long time and I'm thrilled to be writing these characters once again."
We're told details of other cast members and filming dates will be confirmed at a later date.
On Monday night's final episode of the second series (23 February), Joe Miller was found not guilty of the murder of school boy Danny Latimer, while Alex and Ellie also finally cracked the tragic details behind the Sandbrook case.
Broadchurch has attracted large audiences since it's first series in 2013, which gripped the nation with the mysterious murder of 11-year-old Danny and the investigation into who killed him.
