Heartthrob Danny, who revealed that he actually made the decision to leave the Channel 4 soap one year ago, took to Twitter following his final episode on Tuesday night (20 January).
Danny began: "I'm incredibly touched at the response to #SavageShowdown & Dodger's exit. Hollyoaks fans are the best. I'll miss being a part of your show.
"I'm so grateful that 'Dodger' was entrusted to me. I'm so fond of him & will miss him dearly. Thank you for keeping him as long as you did."
He added: "Hollyoaks has been an amazing part of my life & I'm so proud to leave you in the talented & well-manicured hands of my wonderful friends."
In a race against time, viewers watched as Dodger attempted to rescue Maxine Minniver and Theresa McQueen, who were both taken hostage by Dodger's evil brother Will.
After a dramatic showdown, it wasn't long before Dodger's daughter Nico was being held captive by Will on a rooftop.
With Nico pushing Will off the roof, Dodger took the blame for Will's death and prepared to leave Chester alone as a wanted man. Leaving girlfriend Maxine behind, Dodger escaped and set off on a boat, but little did he realise that his brother Will was in hospital... alive!
Last week, Danny called Dodger's storylines on the soap an "incestuous mess".
Bowing out after nearly four years, viewers have watched ladies' man Dodger romance the ladies while being involved in very messy love triangles, shocking family discoveries and brutal encounters.
