Earlier today (12 November), the Official Charts Company confirmed that the midweek sales show they are on course for the top spot, with Cheryl slipping to No 3 behind Ed Sheeran and his new single 'Thinking Out Loud'.
Gareth told The Official Charts Company: "To see the No 1 within reach this week is just wonderful for this group of unlikely choristers.
"Everyone involved has worked so hard to create this record and it's fantastic to see the support we are getting in return.
"Children in Need has a huge impact on the lives of children in the UK and if this single helps then it will be a proud day for us all."
