But earlier this week, reports claimed the murderer who put paid to Lucy's life has been accidentally unveiled, months ahead of schedule.
POTENTIAL SPOILER ALERT: Only scroll down if you want to know who might have killed Ian's daughter Lucy!
Betting shop Ladbrokes have suddenly suspended bets on who killed Lucy, prompting fans to believe the murderer has been unmasked.
A woman apparently sparked the reaction after placing 25 bets on Jane Beale being the killer. Within hours, the odds had dropped from 16/1 to 2/1 and Ladbrokes put a halt on all future wagers.
Jessica Bridge, a Ladbrokes spokesperson, explained: "We smell a rat and have been forced to suspend betting on the EastEnders whodunit.
"Our mystery punter's going to have to wait a while to collect her winnings if she's right, but for the time being we're not prepared to take any more bets."
In February, EastEnders will be marking its 30th anniversary with a special live episode. Additional live scenes will be aired throughout the week before Lucy's killer is sensationally revealed.
Could it really be Ian's ex-wife Jane?
An EastEnders spokesperson has said it is unlikely - as the actor or actress concerned isn't even aware of it yet!
"Even the killer doesn't know yet. There is nothing out there in terms of script or anything," the soap's rep said.
We guess we'll just have to wait then!
