When Home Farm is put up for auction and an open day is held for potential purchasers, Nicola King (played by Nicola Wheeler) shows prospective buyer Chrissie White (Louise Marwood) around the premises.
Joining Chrissie will be her fiancé, ex-villager Robert Sugden. As reported last month, bad boy Robert - who is the brother of Andy - will be making his return to the Yorkshire village after 13 years.
The role of Robert Sugden was previously played by Karl Davies, but it will now be taken over by newcomer Ryan Hawley.
Joining Chrissie and Robert will be Chrissie's wealthy father Lawrence White (John Bowe), who isn't too keen on his future son-in-law and puts in an offer on Home Farm as he catches onto Robert's reluctance to return to the village.
Chrissie's troubled 14-year-old son Lachlan (Thomas Atkinson) is also set to join his family at a later date.
With the notorious Home Farm being occupied by its 10th owner, what trouble will be in store? Four couples have married at the house, 11 characters have died on the premises and two bodies have been unearthed in the grounds, most notably Alex Moss who was buried by Cameron under Declan's 'glamping' site.
Emmerdale's series producer Kate Oates said: "Home Farm has always been the seat of power in Emmerdale. In Lawrence, we have a family man, with serious status and a complex history.
"Robert's going to have to prove himself worthy - not just of the big House on the Hill, but of Lawrence's daughter, Chrissie. But will the ghosts of his past hold him back?"
Emmerdale airs on ITV Monday to Friday at 7pm with an extra episode at 8pm every Thursday.
