Michelle will star in the six-part series as Tracy, a showroom receptionist at a northern car firm, who is also a wannabe WAG who dreams of living a life of luxury.
This marks Michelle's first acting job since she quit Corrie as feisty young barmaid Tina McIntyre earlier this year - six years after playing the role.
Co-created by Shameless director Danny Brocklehurst, Michelle will star in Ordinary Lies alongside Max Beesley, Mackenzie Crook, Rebecca Callard, former EastEnders actress Jo Joyner and ex-Corrie actress Sally Lindsay.
The synopsis reads: "Set in a car showroom, Ordinary Lies focuses on a group of compelling characters all dealing with every day dilemmas and what happens when the lies people tell to keep their heads above water spin out of control with sometimes tragic, sometimes funny consequences."
Michelle, who is engaged to former TOWIE star Mark Wright, is expected to begin filming this month.
The actress has recently settled in Essex after moving in with fiancé Mark, but does her new job mean she'll be heading back to her hometown of Manchester to film?
The show will be produced by Red Production Company. They tweeted: "So we've got @maxbeesley7; @dollyjoyner; @JasonManford; @sally_lindsay @michkeegan & Mackenzie Crook - it's gonna be a corker #OrdinaryLies."
With a cast that good, we agree!
BBC One controller, Charlotte Moore, added: "Set in the colourful and competitive world of car sales, Ordinary Lies is full of surprising twists and turns, a roller coaster of a ride for our audience."
