James Corden has been confirmed as the host of US late night entertainment programme The Late Late Show.

As rumoured earlier this year, the British star will be making waves in the American showbiz industry from next year when he takes over the popular evening series.

James will take over from another homegrown talent, Scottish-born Craig Ferguson, who has hosted the CBS network show for the past ten years.

In a statement, James said: "I can't describe how thrilled and honoured I am to be taking over from the brilliant Craig Ferguson. I can't wait to get started and will do my very best to make a show America will enjoy."

While we all know who James is over here, he will be an unfamiliar face to many among the US viewing audience.

CBS, however, has really bigged him up in its announcement today!

The network's entertainment chairman Nina Tassler said: "James Corden is a rare entertainment force who combines irresistible charm, warmth and originality with a diverse range of creative instincts and performance talent.

"He is the ultimate multi-hyphenate — a writer, creator and performer who is loved and respected in every medium he touches, including theater, comedy, music, film and television."

Pretty amazing words, right?!

James, 36, will hit US screens from 2015. Current host Craig will continue fronting Late Late Show until December.
