The TV presenter has been on the panel of the popular ITV daytime show since September 2011, but revealed that she has struggled to commit to the filming schedule this year.
Carol, 53, said she was "a bit sad" to leave but will now focus on other TV projects, as well as her plan to fly solo around the world for charity.
Explaining her decision, Carol told The Mirror that in the last year, she has only managed to work just over 20 days on the show due to other work commitments.
She said: "I like to do things properly and it's unfair to commit to something half-heartedly so I said to myself 'It's make you mind up time Vorderman' and made my decision.
"So although I could still fill in now if someone was poorly this year or something like that, fundamentally I will not be on Loose Women again."
Former Countdown star Carol, who said she will miss working with her Loose Women co-stars Jane Moore, Coleen Nolan and Nadia Sawalha, added: "I am a bit sad but I just can't do it all. I am going to do more telly."
Taking to Twitter this afternoon, Carol said: "Awww... thank you all for such lovely @loosewomen messages... am very touched... will be popping up on your tellies soon though xx."
