Amanda Holden "thrilled" to replace Holly Willoughby on This Morning

Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda Holden has been confirmed to take over from pregnant Holly Willoughby on This Morning when she goes on maternity leave in September.

ITV announced this morning (11 July) that Amanda will step into her new role alongside co-host Phillip Schofield in two months time.

An excited Amanda said: "I'm over the moon to get the chance to present one of my favourite shows on TV and I'm thrilled to be keeping Holly's seat on the sofa warm when she goes off on maternity leave."

Amanda, who will cover Holly from Monday to Thursdays, added: "I have always been a huge fan of This Morning and love presenting with Phillip so I really can't wait to get started."

Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford will continue to co-host on Fridays, while Christine Bleakley has also been confirmed to present some of the latter part of Holly's maternity cover.

ITV daytime's managing executive producer Emma Gormley said: "Amanda is a great talent with warmth and charisma in abundance. We are thrilled to have her join the This Morning family."

In March, Holly announced she was expecting her third child with husband Dan Baldwin and admitted to fans that it was a welcome surprise.

Tweeting at the time, Holly said: "Surprise Surprise (and it was a surprise!!) I'm really happy and excited to tell you that Dan and I are expecting baby number 3!!"
