Eating high protein foods leaves you feeling fuller for longer, so you're less likely to binge on carbs and fat, new research has found.
Seafood and eggs are a big part of the high-protein Dukan Diet, which Gisele Bunchden, Jennifer Lopez and Kate Middleton have all reportedly followed.
Other protein-rich foods include pulses and beans such as lentils and chickpeas, plus milk, cheese and yoghurt.
Although red meat and full-fat dairy products are high in protein, experts warn you should watch your intake.
"Saturated fat increases cholesterol levels, potentially raising the risk of heart disease," warns Eleana Papadopoulou of the British Nutrition Foundation.
"It's important to follow a healthy, varied diet that is high in lean protein, wholegrains, fruit and vegetables and low in saturated fat, sugar and salt,"' she adds.
The findings were presented by nutritional ecologist Professor David Raubenheimer, from the University of Sydney.
