The British actress has said she's thrilled to be joining the cast of the long-running Australian soap, which airs on Channel 5 in the UK.
In a statement released today, Sheree - who has previously lived in Oz with her Australian footballer husband Harry Kewell - said: "I just feel like I'm coming home again.
"To be able to work in Melbourne for such an iconic soap is a real dream come true.
"Melbourne is a fantastic city with great weather, people and restaurants, what more could you need.
"I'm really looking forward to taking in Melbourne's great coffee houses; they're amazing and catching up with friends for a night out in St Kilda."
Sheree also tweeted: "Thank you for your lovely messages about Neighbours. I'm so excited to be part of the cast!"
Mother-of-four Sheree, 38, is no stranger to the Australian culture, being married to Harry and having settled in the country while he played there.
She currently divides her time between the UK and Australia, but landing a role in Neighbours means heading back Down Under for six weeks, which BFF and fellow actress Charley Webb noted on Twitter.
Charley wrote: "Proud of my Bessie @shereemurphy and her new role in #Neighbours although it means she's in Australia for a while.....#boohoo. V proud."
Sheree will play a British businesswoman called Dakota Davies, who also happens to be a former flame to one of the show's male residents. And, rumour has it, Dakota is not over their split!
"I've been watching Neighbours since the very beginning so to grow up watching a show and to now be part of it is unbelievable," Sheree continued.
"Neighbours is a huge part of the Australian culture just like our soaps in the UK.
Sheree is best known for her role as Tricia Dingle on Emmerdale. She also appeared in Hollyoaks as Eva Strong, and completed a stint in the Australian jungle for I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
