We all knew it was coming but Louis made his return official during an interview with 2fm's Colm Hayes, revealing he's just agreed his new contract.
A very excited sounding Louis said: "Do you know what I did today? Exclusive, because I've told nobody. I signed for X Factor, like fifteen minutes ago. Officially. The eleventh year. I got the text, I knew I was doing the show but I just agreed my deal. I'm very happy. I'm glad to be working at my age."
Louis will join Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole on the judging panel, but the identity of the fourth judge has yet to be revealed.
Rumours have been flying about who it might be, with recent names mentioned including Spice Girl Mel B and Britain's Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon.
"I don't know who will be in the other seat beside me. I have to sit beside them for three or four months, it has to be someone I like," said Louis.
"I just hope they put someone I like in the chair beside me. I'd love Sharon Osbourne but I don't think it will be her. I think it might be Mel B and I would love that. She's quite mad. She did the Australian show and I love her. Alesha is also mentioned and a few other people have been mentioned. If it's not Mrs O, I'd love Mel B."
As for how Simon and Cheryl will get on, he quipped: "They will get on really well and try to hog the limelight and make it all about them!"
