Kirsty Wark is on a mission – to find out if men in today's society think they have the right to speak about, write about, and portray women in a derogatory or abusive way in Blurred Lines: The New Battle Of The Sexes.

From online abuse hurled at women in the public eye, bomb threats sent to campaigners wanting more female heroes on bank notes, to the sexually explicit portrayal of women in pop videos and rape jokes, what is this new culture all about? Is it sexism? Old-fashioned misogyny? Or is it purely liberation?

Blurred Lines: The New Battle Of The Sexes, Thu 8 May

Kirsty will travel across the UK to meet students, academics, campaigners, columnists, and comedians, and consider if lads mags have played a part, or if the rise of misogyny has coincided with the rise of the online world.

What does all of it mean for Britain's younger generation? Kirsty will also talk to today's youth to find out their feelings on the pressures they face.

Blurred Lines: The New Battle Of the Sexes, BBC2, 9.30pm
