EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks: we take a look at tonight's top soap stories…

EastEnders, BBC1, 7.30pm

The police arrive and tell Ian Lucy's mugging was staged and they believe she was murdered by someone she knew. They also reveal that Lucy was having secret trysts with someone local who could well be the murderer.

Ian sets about quizzing all the men in Walford to find out who Lucy's lover was and starts with notorious womaniser David Wicks (even though he's her uncle!).

EastEnders, David confronts Max, Thu 1 May


David isn't happy with being accused, but when he's alone he starts to think there might be more to Max's odd behaviour than meets the eye. Confronting Max, he asks if he killed Lucy…

Emmerdale, ITV, 7pm & 8pm

Rhona's at the hospital taking Leo to his speech therapist when she spots Donna there. Intrigued, Rhona follows Donna as she heads to the oncology department.

At her appointment, Donna is left reeling when the specialist tells her she may only have six to twelve months to live. Donna comes out of the room in a daze, and is shocked to see Rhona waiting for her.

All her emotions come spilling out as a distressed Donna tells Rhona she has cancer, leaving Rhona floored. Will she keep Donna's secret?

Hollyoaks, C4, 6.30pm

With Blessing desperate to pay Michael off and get him – and her secret – as far away from the village as possible, she's frantically trying to find the cash.

Dennis is still not happy she used her rent money to pay off the private investigator, but when he sees Michael intimidating Blessing, will good guy Dennis step in?
