Jermain Jackman flooded with celeb support after winning The Voice

Jermain Jackman has been flooded with congratulatory messages from celebrity supporters after winning this year's The Voice UK.

Last night (5 April), Londoner Jermain was crowned the winner of the BBC talent show, landing a major record deal after coming top in the public vote during the live final.

After performing Miley Cyrus' 'Wrecking Ball' and 'Pure Imagination', from the 1971 film Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory with coach, Jermain beat Sally Barker, Christina Marie and Jamie Johnson to win the third series of the BBC1 show.

He told his new fans: "I want you guys to know, work hard for your dream and you will achieve it."

When he was named the winner, Twitter was flooded with messages praising the 19-year-old singer.

After Jermain announced his ultimate ambition to become "the first singing black prime minister", Labour leader Ed Miliband was one of the first to send him a message on social media.

He said: "Huge congratulations to @JermainJackman. Knew you were an incredibly special singer from the first time I heard you. #TheVoiceUK."

Host Marvin Humes tweeted: "Here is your winner! @JermainJackman congrats bro..the world is your oyster! #thevoiceukFINAL."

Other celeb supporters included Dragon's Den star Peter Jones, who described Jermain as "the best solo artist ever to win a TV talent show", and The Voice: Louder On Two host Zoe Ball who said: "Go on @JermainJackman am in absolute buckets!!!! So so so deserved! Xx."

Cheryl Cole sent an affectionate message to Jermain's mentor, saying: "YESsss Jermain!!! Congrats @iamwill love ya #Dopesh*t p.s call me."

She also called her old friend during the live final! Interrupting the show, took the call and told singer Jermain: "'Cheryl Cole said you were amazing."

Meanwhile, TOWIE's Debbie Douglas called Jermain an "international superstar", and former The Voice coach Danny O'Donoghue said: "Sneaky willy for the win, congrats brother @iamwill , good on ye @JermainJackman , you deserve it."

Previous contestant Leah McFall said: "AAHHhHhh well done @JermainJackman !!!! You are incredible!!! Yay!!"

Sinitta said: "Wow! Congartulations @JermainJackman. Winner of #theVoiceFinal. I will vote for you to be Primeminister, dream,believe, achieve God bless x."

And singing coach Yvie Burnett posted: "Congratulations @JermainJackman ! From the first time I heard you in a rehearsal I was blown away. Really great singer !! Xx."
