Former Westlife star Brian McFadden has landed a job presenting a brand new dating show called Stand By Your Man.

Brian, 33, has been announced as the co-host of the new Channel 5 programme alongside Celebrity Super Spa presenter Laura Jackson, and it is set to air this summer.

Brian will be playing matchmaker with Laura, as they try to help eligible bachelors win over the hearts and votes of girls.

"I'm over the moon to host this show," said Brian, who is married to model and DJ Vogue Williams. "Dating should be a fun and exciting experience and I'm looking forward to creating some compatible matches, fingers crossed!"

In Stand By Your Man, four male contestants will compete to win a date with one of 40 girls from the studio audience. The guys will face various rounds of fun challenges, each with the aim of revealing more about themselves and influencing the girls' decisions.

At the end of each round, the girls will be asked to choose their favourite guy by standing in his respective line. Throughout, Brian and Laura will mingle with the singletons, revealing further cheeky snippets of information about them all.

The guy chosen by the most girls at the end of the show is the winner and he'll then get to choose one lucky girl to take on the date.

Brian rose to fame in the 90s as one fifth of Irish band Westlife. The pop group sold over 50 million records worldwide and achieved 12 UK Number 1s before Brian's departure in 2004, when he went on to pursue a solo career.

Former Australia's Got Talent judge Brian reached the semi-finals of celebrity dance competition, Stepping Out last year. He currently guest presents on ITV's Daybreak as an entertainment correspondent.

Stand By Your Man commissioning editor Greg Barnett said: "Brian's cheeky Irish charm and wit will be a winner with viewers. Laura has proved herself as a rising star and she and Brian have a unique on-screen chemistry together. They're the perfect match for a dating format that changes by the minute."
