Kristin Davis has kept our hopes of another Sex and the City movie alive by admitting she thinks the story is "unfinished" as it stands.

Sex and the City ran as a TV series from 1998 until 2004 and was followed by two spinoff movies, one in 2008 and another two years later.

Since then, there has been constant speculation over whether the characters – Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda – will return for another outing.

Speaking on ITV's This Morning today, Kristin, who played Charlotte, said: "I don't know… Would I do another? Of course! We'd be thrilled if there was another one!

"I think in our hearts - I shouldn't speak for all of us - but I feel like it's unfinished. I feel that way, and I don't know if I would feel that way if the fans weren't supportive.

"Maybe it's because everyone talks to me every day about it, it still feels so relevant in some way, so it feels unfinished a little bit."

Viewers watched Kristin's character Charlotte go through various ups and downs in the show, including a failed marriage and difficulty conceiving.

Kristin told Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby that she'd prefer Charlotte have a happy storyline if a third movie happened, although ultimately it would be the executive producer's call.

During her chat, a clip from series three episode 'Drama Queens' was played, which sees Charlotte telling her friends she'll be spending more time with married pals going forward in order to find a husband.

Kristin admitted that was actually one of her least favourite episodes to film, explaining: "That element of Charlotte where she was focused on having a husband is so not me... I can see in my face there I didn't like that episode!"

The brunette actress is currently in London to appear in the West End version of Fatal Attraction, an opportunity which she said is a dream come true.

"Every actor wants to be on Broadway and we want to be on the West End and I was on Broadway about a year and a half ago, and now I'm getting to be on the West End!"

Fatal Attraction begins previews on 11 March and is booking until 21 June 2014.
