Channel 4 have commissioned an exciting new reality TV show called Taking New York, which will follow the lives of Brits as they try to make it in the Big Apple.

The constructed reality series will air on E4 and will be based around a group of twenty-something British friends striving to make their American dream come true.

Some of the young go-getters will already be making a name for themselves, while others will have just arrived in NYC and must figure out the etiquette of life in the super fast paced city.

And of course, it won't be all plain sailing and partying.

The cameras will capture the highs, the lows, the heartbreaks, the competition, the clashes and the insecurities that come with life and love in New York.

We wonder how the group will cope!

Despite us already having enough TV guilty pleasures to squeeze into our evenings, it certainly seems like Taking New York is going to be essential viewing.

Whitney and Olivia were rivals on The City

But this isn't the first reality show to hit NYC.

Back in 2008, MTV treated us to a spin-off of The Hills known as The City, which starred and centred around fashionista Whitney Port.

Despite only airing for two seasons, The City succeeded in fuelling our obsession with Whitney, as well as her impeccably dressed work rival Olivia Palermo.
