Speaking on ITV's Lorraine this morning (6 February), Jodi explained that she, Anika Bostelaar, Linzi Martin, Michelle Barber and Nikki Harrington (née Stuart) have enjoyed the chance to now bring their band full circle and get closure, following their split in 2001.
Jodi said: "When Girl Thing ended, it ended quite abruptly for us and we all ran from it and certainly for me, we kind of blocked it all out. So actually, revisiting it has been a bit like therapy."
She added that the girls are catching up on everything that has been going on in their lives since leaving the group, including their new roles as mums.
"What appealed to me about doing [The Big Reunion] was rewriting our ending and giving us a chance to have a happy ending as opposed to the way we left it off," she said. "I think for us now, we're all mums and seeing each other 14 years later and talking… at first we were like, 'how many kids do you have?!'"
Nikki (who appeared on Lorraine via a video link from LA) echoed Jodi's sentiments, although revealing that she'd initially had reservations about getting back together with the band for The Big Reunion.
"At first I was a little unsure actually but once we got into rehearsals everything started to come together, which I hoped it would, and it's been a good experience," she said.
The five ladies are now busy with rehearsals for the show, which begins tonight (6 February) on ITV2 at 9pm.
However, they've also been making the most of hanging out with their fellow Big Reunion stars, which include R&B group Damage, A1, newly-formed boy band 5th Story and trio 3T, who are nephews of Michael Jackson.
"We're kind of starstruck," Linzi said. "I think all the bands are star struck! They're fighting over towels in rehearsal!"
In tonight's show, Girl Thing will open up about physical fights and how their dreams of being the next Spice Girls were shattered.
